Memory Series

Since the beginning of human history we've felt a need to record on whatever we could stain, carve or build. Once we realized that our memories are all that truly defines us it became important to record our events, turn them into memories and pass them on to others. In response to months worth of memory research, I began recording my own memories as best as I could recall. Each painting of this series began with a specific memory. My goal was to choose a memory, record it, and bury it within an abstract landscape. I did this by embedding text and keepsakes onto the canvas beneath layers of paint and texture just as the earth buries her fossils in sand. My mind is the only one with the knowledge to truly decode each specific memory. However, I hope the viewer uncovers the clues and undertones present in my own experiences that resonate with the hidden memories and emotions of their own. Click on any of the images below for a closer view.
