Pilgrim At Tinker Creek Series

This series of paintings is inspired entirely by The Pilgrim at Tinker Creek By: Annie Dillard. My love for Annie Dillard's writing began my senior year in college when a good friend of mine suggested I read For the Time Being (Also by Dillard). As soon as I began reading that book my perspective on the world was challenged and changed. It was without a doubt the most inspirational piece of literature I had ever read. After I finished that book I continued to read just about everything that Annie Dillard has ever written and have since read most of her non-fiction works several times. The way that she constructs her words and challenges mankind's relationship with the world is in itself Holy. I finished reading A Pilgrim at Tinker Creek for the third time in June and could not stop thinking about it. So I've decided something that can be so inspirational to me for years on end deserves some homage so I'm beginning my journey in that direction. The goal of this series is to complete 15 works of art, one for every chapter of the book. Each painting will be 60"x40" and will be titled the same as the chapter of the book it's created for. Each painting is paired with extensive research and notes all based on the language of the chapter, my experience with it and how that's lead to my transformation as an artist.
